PoE switch series for -40 to +70 °C

Acceed presents a new switch series with PoE from ORing. The four models are highly suitable for end devices with high electricity requirements such as IP cameras for example. They offer up to eight 10/100Base T(X) connections and can be used at ambient temperatures from -40 to +70 °C.

PoE switches are an important component for industrial communication and building security. They act as distributors and, for example, distribute images from IP cameras to the network. In order to guarantee continuous and disturbance-free data transfer, switches must work trouble-free and in a stable manner.

The PoE switch series IPS-10xx from ORing is equipped with important security features. For example, two power connections designed to be redundant guarantee an uninterruptible power supply, thus increasing the failsafe performance of the devices connected. All switches support the "Store-and-forward" switching process, which enables the switch to receive the entire data package and save it in a buffer. The data package is checked and processed in this buffer before being forwarded to its target address. The advantage is that faulty data packages are sorted out in advance. Further features such as Auto-negotiation, Auto-MDI/MDI-X and Data Flow Management round off the range of services. For Auto-negotiation, Ethernet devices exchange information such as the transfer rates and pause capabilities via their duplex mode, thus enabling them to establish a network connection with optimum performance.

Furthermore, all IPS-10xx series switches support the IEEE 802.3at protocol and therefore provide PoE availability for the network. This is an advantage which ought not be underestimated as it allows end devices such as IP cameras to be provided with electricity directly via the LAN cable, reducing the costs for installation work and material. The maximum power output per PoE interface is 30 watts.

The IPS-1080A and IPS-1042FA casings from ORing are conspicuously slim with a mere 2.6 cm (slim cases), at the same time highly robust and suitable for top-hat or wall assembly. The large permissible operating temperature range from -40 to +70 °C is unusual. The three LEDs at the front signalise readiness for operation, the communication status and activated special functions such as PoE.
